"All right, let’s do this one last time."

The canon? Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse which is a 2018 animated film featuring the origin story of Miles Morales. A movie I have been watching on Netflix since the whole pandemic started. Over and over again. It's easily become my favorite Marvel movie and animated film of all time.
This is not the Ultimate Miles Morales origin story that you might be familiar with if you are a comic fan. This rendition of Miles however is different as the movie provides a new origin while mixing in other Spider-People into the plot. (Specifically three different Spider-Men, Spider-Woman!Gwen Stacy and Spider-Ham. He’s specifically from Earth TRN700 if you keep track of that kind of thing). In the movie, Miles recently transferred to a new school in which he won a scholastic lottery to attend. Unfortunately Miles is struggling with the new environment and being away from his friends at Brooklyn Middle school. This has lead to some relationship issues with his father who is rather no-nonsense and inflexible in his thinking. While Miles is a talented artist and student, his father is not a fan of Miles’ attempts at street art and tagging various locations with stickers and is constantly having Miles clean up after himself.
Personality-wise, Miles is a fairly well adjusted teenager with a solid family life (minus his difficulties with his father). He’s friendly and always tries to use humor to diffuse awkward situations which he typically ends up getting into. He was fairly popular at his old school so this whole new school with a challenging curriculum and lack of friends will be hard for him.
Miles is also fairly intelligent. In the movie he passed the qualification exam for the private school he was attending and would have gotten 100% on a physics test if he hadn’t deliberately failed it (attempting to fail out of school so he could go back to Brooklyn Middle School). Like most heroes, he always tries to do the right thing if possible. Throughout the movie and the changes that are forced upon him he moves from being a scared and timid kid to a hero who can take down the kingpin of crime.
Miles’ biggest problem is fear. It keeps him from being the best person he can be. He doesn’t stand up to his father because of fear of letting him down. He has problems accepting his role as Spider-Man because he’s a freaking middle school kid who has responsibilities and powers thrust upon them. Slowly but surely he can overcome those fears but it’s usually his friends and family that gives him the support to over come them.
Appearance wise, Miles is a slim fellow with not a lot of height on him. Honestly I look at him in his costume and he just looks like a kid going out trick or treating. When he’s at school he’s typically dressed in jeans and t-shirt kid with a penchant for hoodies. His one constant thing he usually wears is his Nike Air Jordans which he clearly loves but never bothers to tie the shoelaces.
Eventually Miles will get his powers which are the typical Spider-Man abilities with a couple of extra items:
Spider Sense
Superhuman Strength
Superhuman Speed
Superhuman Agility
Wall-Crawling
Invisibility
"Venom Strike" that can temporarily paralyze almost anyone with just a touch using an electrical charge
And he’ll eventually have web-shooters. Because you’re not a Spider-Person unless you have something like that.
The important stuff:
I made some alterations to Miles’ canon in order for it to work with Fandom. He has not gone through canon yet, so he’s just a normal kid. Miles is coming to Fandom High as a Sophomore having won a scholarship to the school which he doesn’t think he deserves. He’ll get some more confidence eventually, especially after he goes through canon.
If you are from the Marvel Universe, you are welcome to recognize him as being Miles Morales if your character knows him as Spider-Man. However, please don’t break his brain with that as I still want him to go through canon. Also don’t expect him to immediately recognize any Marvel character as the only hero he really knows about is Spider-Man. There is a Tony Stark in his universe (Or at least there was a mention of him in a scene that was cut) but that’s about it. Why only Spider-People and barely anyone else? Sony.
God that movie had so much Sony product placement.
Anyway, that’s about it. Questions? Comments? Pie?
