At some point during the week, Miles was sure he was on the right track to become the Spider-Man his world needed. Now? Not so much.

Leaving Queens, Miles spent most of the evening walking around the city deciding what to do next. His phone kept ringing over and over again with his Mom and Dad demanding to know what was going on.
Miles knew he should call them back. But how could he tell them what was going even when he didn't? This whole thing was a mess.
The one person who Miles thought might understand? Well. He was not answering his phone. And when Miles showed up at Uncle Aaron's apartment he found it empty. Groaning, Miles sat down to write him a note. Maybe if he showed up later, Aaron would call him back and listen. Maybe even help him.

Dear Uncle Aaron, I gotta do something and I don’t know if I can do it. I’m scared man. I’m just tired of letting everybody down. You’re the only one I can talk to. I just wish you were here.
And that's when Miles heard it. A noise coming from the fire escape.

You need to hide your face.
Miles pulled down his mask just in time to see two metallic claws start to open a window and a figure enter the room.

PROWLER! How did he find me here?
And when Miles looked down upon himself? He was invisible again.
Well. That's nice. If I could only control it.
The Prowler began to move about the room and Miles couldn't breathe in fear of being discovered.
As Miles tried to slowly move away, he was stopped by a small buzzing noise coming from the Prowler's belt. The villain tapped the side of his mask and began to speak, his voice distorted and scrambled.
"Hello, Mr. Fisk. I’ve got the security tapes from the tunnel right here. If the kid’s out there, I’ll find him."
Miles' brow furrowed in confusion. Wait. If he hadn't seen Miles then how did the Prowler end up here in Uncle Aaron's apartment?
And then the Prowler removed his mask.

"You know me, sir. I don’t ever quit."

Uncle Aaron?
Miles felt his stomach flip and his body go cold.
Uncle Aaron is the Prowler?
The gasp escaped his lips before he even realized it. His uncle turned to the sound and Miles bolted for the window.
Before he even landed on the fire escape Prowler... Aaron was on Miles' heels. Miles could already feel the invisibility ability he had begin to flicker away as he jumped and ran down the fire escape and out of the alley.
He made it to the street and for a brief second Miles thought he got away. And that's when he heard the engine. The motorcycle. Prowler.

My uncle is trying to kill me.
And then there was no more time for thought. Only running.

Breathing hard, Miles pulled himself off the ground and looked at the wreckage around him. Prowler's motorcycle... Aaron's motorcycle was demolished but he was nowhere near in sight.
Uncle Aaron is trying to kill me.
There was no more time to think. Miles began to run again. And he kept running.
Morning had broken in Queens. Aunt May, true to Aunt May form, had fixed breakfast for everyone which included eggs, pancakes but no sausage or bacon.
After all, it would be a weird thing to serve to Spider-Ham.
Peter B Parker was playing with the override key/goober that hung around his neck. That Barry guy had dropped it in his hands before heading back to Fandom-whatever-it-was-called because he had "other fucking business to take care of."
Peter wondered what was so important that he'd leave a student in danger behind.
"Has anyone heard from Miles?" Gwen asked.
"Look, he’s just clearing his head," Peter said shaking his head. "I know the kid. He’s got what it takes. I bet you he’s going to come back through that door recharged and ready to fight."
Gwen said nothing but the look on her face made it clear that she thought differently.
Gwen frowned. "It's not that I don't think Miles won't be a good Spider-Man. I'm just worried that if we bring him into a room with Kingpin's henchmen on top of some of this universe's villains that he's never going to get to be Spider-Man," she said emphatically.
Damn it. This is why she didn't do friends anymore.
"I'm with Miguel. Let's plan this thing without him," she said firmly.
"Which means one of us is staying behind," Spider-Ham said with a nod. "And I'm more than happy to stay here if it means everyone else gets home safe."
"No," Peter said shaking his head. "If it comes to that I'll do it."
He paused for a moment to look at a picture with this universe's Peter and a red-headed woman. "I don't really have that much waiting for me at home anyway.

He paused for a moment to look at a picture with this universe's Peter and a red-headed woman. "I don't really have that much waiting for me at home anyway."
And that's when Miles arrived, bursting through the door and having a panic attack.
"My uncle! My Uncle Aaron! He's the Prowler!"
Peter and Gwen turned to look at Miles and shared a look. "Okay, slow down," Peter said in calming tones. "Slow down, Miles."
"You don't understand! He works for Kingpin!" Miles shouted trying to fight the tears in his eyes. "He's trying to kill me!"
"This is a pretty hardcore origin story," Spider-Ham commented only to get hushed by Gwen. "What?"
"What am I going to do?" Miles asked looking at the rest of the Spider-People for answers.
"Is this where Firestar and Iceman show up?" Spider-Ham asked. "Because I don't think they're owned by Sony."
Peter blinked and looked down at the pig. "Wait. Who? What?"
Gwen ignored the meta-comments because there was more things going on at stake here. She reached out and put her hand on Miles' shoulder. "Were you followed?"
Miles paused. Oh crap. "I don't think so?" Not that he had even bothered to look back. He just ran here-
And that's when everyone could feel a similar sensation creeping up their necks. Spider-senses telling everyone the same thing: WARNING.
"Suit up everyone," Gwen called out as she pulled on her mask. "We got company."

The door opened and a set of translucent-white and somewhat familiar tentacle like arms came through followed by a woman in greenish armor and goggles.

"Wow. What a nice place you have here!" Doctor Octopus exclaimed.
"Oh, great," May moaned. "It's Liv."
Peter shoved Miles to the rear. "You need to get out of here."
Miles started to move to the kitchen and get out through the back door only to run smack into Tombstone coming in from the rear. A large man with tattoos and a… Scorpion’s tail? Yep. That was a tail followed in after Tombstone.

"You screwed up. Big time, kid."
The shock web definitely made Tombstone see stars and the following kick to the head sent him sprawling to the floor.
"Oh! So I guess we're fighting!" Liv said in a cheerful but still menacing kind of way. It was then that she spotted the goober hanging around Peter's neck. "Oooooh. I'll be taking that."
A tentacle lashed out grabbing Peter by the throat and smashing him into the wall. Gwen attempted to jump in but soon found herself wrapped up in another tentacle.
"I don't suppose you could all take this outside?" May asked sarcastically.
"We could but there hasn't been enough property damage in this story yet," Spider-Ham explained, as he picked up a plate from the table and just smashed it over his own head. "See?"
Meanwhile the Scorpion was cornering Miles onto the couch, his mechanical tail swishing about menacingly. "Stand, niñito dale."
Miles felt a surge of adrenaline. "Prepárate a morir," he snarled back as he put up his fists only to find that his hands were stuck to the couch cushions. "Oh, come on!"
The Scorpion let out a scream as Jessica's webbing sent electrical shocks up his tail and into his spine.
"Nice shooting! Mind if I cut in?" Gwen called out and then did a kick that knocked him against the wall.
Meanwhile Peter had webbed one of the tentacles of Doc Ock. Not that it was doing him any good as two other tentacles had him pinned against the wall knocking the goober across the floor. "Could use a little help here Spider-Ham!"
"It's okay!" Spider-Ham shouted back. "I'm good here." And broke another plate over his head.
Finally able to pull the couch cushions off his hands, Miles saw the goober and grabbed it. "I got it!"

And that's when he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He looked out and saw a familiar shadow run across the wall. "It's Prowler!"
"Get out of here, kid!" Peter shouted.
Jessica' punch sent Doc Ock slamming against the wall as one free tentacle attempted to entangle her. And while Miguel was able to pull the tentacle off Peter it was now free and lashed out at Spider-Ham sending him flying.
The Scorpion had finally shaken off the shock charge and was now throwing fists and his tail
The grey skinned Tombstone took the opportunity to take a swipe at Miguel only to leave herself open to a bat wielding Aunt May.
"I SAID-"

"TAKE IT-"

"-OUTSIDE!"
Miles froze. In front of him was the Prowler. His uncle The one he could go to whenever he was down. Who gave him advice when Miles needed it.
My uncle is trying to kill me.
"Don't be stupid kid. Hand it over now."
Miles said nothing. He threw the table at Prowler only for it to be smashed to shards of wood. Miles ran. Up the stairs with his uncle right on his ankles. When he got to the top floor he spotted the hole in the roof that the Scorpion and Gwen had made. He jumped through it and climbed on top of May's house. Before he could get a web line out, Prowler burst through the roof and grabbed Miles by the throat.

"No where left to run." One hand was around Miles' throat and the other was held above his head, claws extended.

Miles couldn't breathe. Tears were running down his face. In desperation he pulled his mask off. "Uncle Aaron."

The hulking form of the Prowler froze in place. The facial features of the mask softened. "Miles?"

With his free hand, the mask of the Prowler came off and he saw Uncle's Aaron's face. It wasn't the kind face he had known all his life.

"Oh no. No no no no."
It was the face of a scared man.
"Uncle Aaron. Please.
Miles watched as Aaron paused and looked off to his left, not saying anything. And then his uncle reached out with his clawed hand. The whine of the powered gloves kicked in. Miles shut his eyes…

And felt his uncle pull down the mask over his face. "Uncle Aaron?"
Aaron had let go of Miles and put his hands up in the air. His face wasn't fearful anymore. It was... acceptance?

There was another gun shot and Miles looked up just in time to see Peter knock Kingpin to the ground. "You gotta go man!"
Miles picked up Uncle Aaron. He could feel him breathing. Maybe I can get him out alive.... He shot out a web line and swung away ending up in an alley a few blocks away from May's house. Laying his uncle down, Miles knelt over him.
"Miles..."
Miles felt the tears coming back. "Uncle Aaron. This is my fault. I'm so-"
Aaron shook his head and took Miles' hand. "No Miles. I’m sorry. I wanted you to look up to me. I let you down, man, I let you down. You’re the best of all of us, Miles. You’re on your way."
Aaron coughed, some blood beginning to trickle out of his mouth. "Just keep going. Just keep going.”
Miles had heard of a death rattle. He had heard it once before in the wreckage of the Super-Collider. And now he heard it again as he watched the life of his Uncle drift away.

He began to sob into the chest of Uncle Aaron. Only to be interrupted by the sound of a car and someone shouting. "HANDS UP! PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW!"
Miles closed his eyes and put his hands up... and felt something weird. He was invisible again. Why can't I control this?!
"HEY!"
Miles shot out a web and crawled to the roof of the building and looked down to see the cop-
Oh. Oh no.
His dad. It was his dad. He watched in horror as his dad knelt over uncle's body and-
"Aaron?"
Miles had never seen his dad cry. Never. But now he was watching his dad sob over his own brother.
Miles didn't wait. This was too much. Way too much. He couldn't go home. He couldn't go to May's. So he went to the only place he had left.
Back to school.
